Thousands of users complained about social media X's inaccessibility on Friday evening, according to the data available on tracking platform DownDetector on Friday. India was among the countries from where netizens raised outage complaints.
There were nearly 9,000 outage reports submitted on DownDetector by X users in India. Around 45% users reported facing issues with the app, 38% saw glitches in the website and 16% experienced issues with their X feed, according to the data.
Over 58,000 users reported having issues in the United States, over 8,000 users complained in Canada, and Australia had close to 2,500 user complaints regarding X on DownDetector. The complaints were very app-heavy in all of these countries.
DownDetector compiles outage data based on user-submitted reports, and the actual number of affected users may be significantly higher.
The popular social media platform had faced a similar outage on Tuesday as well. On that day too, majority of reported problems were related to app (59%), followed by website (33%) and server connection (8%), according to Downdetector.
The exact cause of X outage is yet to be known. There was no immediate statement from the Elon Musk-owned company.
Users from different parts of the world reacted to the outage. "X is down. What is the cause? It was working until 15 minutes ago. Let's hope it's not another cyberattack. Quite unusual. How is it on your end? I tried both mobile and web and both have issues," said one user.

X services were also impacted in November 2025, when a Cloudflare outage prevented access to X after a faulty security configuration turned its traffic system temporarily dysfunctional. In the same month, a separate outage made X unaccessible for thousands of US users.
