Apple has released the sixth developer beta of iOS 26, introducing a fresh selection of ringtones, fixing the controversial camera swiping direction issue, a revamped onboarding experience, and more. The company also released updates for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, macOS, and additional platforms, as the anticipated public release of the new OS in September draws close.

New Ringtones
The inclusion of several new ringtones, all variations of the “reflection” melody, is already trending on social media. Users who got it early are especially excited about the “Dreamer” ringtone, which has been characterised as “crazy good” and “such a bop,” to name a few.
Camera Mode Swipe Action Switch-Back
Previous beta versions changed the swipe direction for switching between camera modes, which drew major flak from users who said it disrupted their “muscle memory.” In Beta 5, Apple enabled users to revert to the former mode, called “Classic Mode,” with a Settings option. However, in Beta 6, the toggle has been eliminated and the swipe action has returned to its original direction.
Liquid Glass Tweaks
The new Liquid Glass interface for Apple devices has undergone subtle adjustments for improved readability and enhanced “glass-like” effects. The update introduced more colour dispersion when navigating between an app's tabs with the transparent, magnifying glass-style selector. Additionally, the Lock Screen and toggles now feature Liquid Glass effects.
New Startup Experience
On updating the operating system, a refreshed startup and onboarding process highlights Liquid Glass and additional features of iOS 26. These include the dark and transparent icons and revamped UI across several apps.
Apple Intelligence
The Foundation Models framework offers immediate access to the large language model that powers Apple Intelligence on users' device.
Recovery Assistant
Recovery Assistant offers a fresh approach to restore your iPhone when it fails to boot up properly. It can identify issues and try to fix them if they are detected.
Bug Fixes
Apart from new features, bug fixes include those related to battery, AirPlay, camera, Mail, and more.
