The rollout of Google's planned data centre hub in Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to begin on April 28, following an agreement signed with the state government roughly six months ago. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, alongside Google executives led by Thomas Kurian, will attend the groundbreaking of a 1 GW data centre hub.
Backed by an investment of $15 billion, the project will comprise three campuses near Visakhapatnam, covering Adavivaram, Tarluvada and Rambilli. The project represents India's largest single foreign investment to date. Raiden Infotech India Ltd. has received the land required for the data centre project, with the subsidiary tasked with its implementation.
According to a report by The Economic Times (ET), the inaugural event will take place at either Tarluvada or Rambilli. An official said the government has earmarked 174.8 acres in Rambilli, 160 acres in Adavivaram and Mudasarlova, and 266.6 acres in Tarluvada.

Google currently maintains a network of data centres across 11 countries, from the United States and Japan to Ireland and Chile, covering 29 sites globally. The planned cluster near Visakhapatnam is expected to surpass all others in Asia in terms of scale.
Equipped with a capacity of 1 GW, the data centre will be integrated with global networks via subsea cable links to Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and 12 additional countries. The initiative is set to elevate Visakhapatnam as an international connectivity hub, while driving growth in healthcare, education, agriculture and industry through AI-powered infrastructure. AdaniConneX and Bharti Airtel are among the partners backing the project.
“The establishment of an AI Data Centre and subsea cable landing station in Visakhapatnam is a major stride toward our national growth vision. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, India's digital future is taking shape through progressive governance,” Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said when the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.
