Apple iPhone 17 Display To Be Bigger, With Pro-Grade Refresh Rates, Claims Tipster

While reports on the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models indicate massive upgrades and the iPhone 17 Air is tipped to create a niche of its own with its "airiness", there has been a slight disappointment that the iPhone 17 base model will feature only minor updates.

However, there is some good news after all. Apple's base iPhone 17 would come with a bigger screen than the current iPhone 16, a tipster on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo has revealed.

A larger iPhone 17 phone, which is anticipated to have a screen as large as the iPhone 16 Pro, was also alluded to in earlier leaks. Amazon India unintentionally revealed earlier last week that case maker Spigen's EZ Fit screen guard would work with the iPhone 16 Pro in addition to the iPhone 17, which indicates an upgraded 6.3-inch display for the latter.

Now, according to the Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese), the iPhone 17 will have a larger 6.3-inch screen. The iPhone 17 looks to be getting the same upgrade as the iPhone 16 Pro, which was resized by Apple to 6.3 inches last year. 

Earlier reports also claim that Apple will improve the display performance of the iPhone 17 in addition to its size. 

Every non-Pro model from Apple, including the most recent iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, has a 60Hz display. Apple is anticipated to replace the base iPhone 17 model’s display with a 120Hz LTPO OLED panel this year, and do the same for the rumoured iPhone 17 Air variant as well.

However, Apple will restrict the always-on display and other capabilities that depend on adaptive refresh rate, which has a range of 1Hz to 120Hz, to the iPhone 17 Pro models, according to reports.
