Annoying! Google Pixel 9 Display Brightness Bug Ruins Netflix, Prime Experience, Check Fix
Many users reported facing an annoying Google Pixel 9 display brightness bug that causes it to "flicker" while watching videos. And some even revealed how to temporarily fix the Google Pixel 9 bug.
Google Pixel's March update introduced several new features for users. This marked the final major update on Android 15 QPR2. For some of the users, the new update has also introduced an issue with display brightness. It has been reported that, among other Pixels, Google Pixel 9 has been hit by the bug too. Many users reported facing a brightness bug that causes the display to "flicker" while watching videos, according to a report by 9to5 Google website. The frustrating bug caused the brightness to randomly jump or drop, even when there are no changes in ambient light, users said.
They noted that the issue occurred during video playback in apps like Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube. The bug appears to be affecting Pixel devices, with the 9to5 Google report specifically mentioning experiencing it "inconsistently" in the Google Pixel 9 too.
Users Discover A Temporary Fix
Some Google Pixel users said that the issue seemed to get resolved when they set the display to a 60Hz mode temporarily.
The same google Pixel update has also caused some minor problems with haptic feedback for some users.
Pixel phones are Google’s custom smartphone range, with the Google Pixel 9 series currently being the latest model available. Google Pixel 10 launch is expected in August 2025. There are reports that Google will introduce its smartest virtual assistant yet - Pixel Sense - in the upcoming Pixel flagship. Pixel Sense will be integrated with other Google applications and function as a more context-aware assistant, providing users with relevant information.
At the recently concluded Mobile World Congress 2025, Google Pixel 9 Pro was named ‘Smartphone of the Year’. Pixel 8 Series won the award in 2024.

The three day event in Barcelona saw over one lakh attendees flying to the annual mobile trade show, where all the major players unveiled their latest models or launched their future roadmaps for the industry. Google’s AI chatbot Gemini also won the ‘Breakthrough Device Innovation’ award.
It was widely anticipated that the Pixel 9 series would be accompanied with a smart AI assistant, Pixie. However, that didn’t happen, and now many are speculating that Pixel Sense is a modified version of the scrapped assistant.
