Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has been appointed as the new batting coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Titans. Hayden will join the coaching staff that comprises Vikram Solanki, Ashish Nehra and Parthiv Patel.
Hayden has previously worked with Pakistan as the head coach for the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was back with the team as the mentor for 2022 T20 World Cup.
"Good batting applies pressure. Great batting owns the game, that's the standard we want to set at Gujarat Titans." Hayden said in a statement issued by the Titans.

Hayden, who is also a commentator, featured in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings from 2007 to 2010 and played 32 matches and scored 1,107 runs.
During his playing days, Hayden used to open the batting for Australia and was known for his aggressive and fearless style of batting. At international level he played 103 Tests, 161 ODIs and 9 T20Is amassing over 15,000 runs across the three formats. He was part of the Australian team that won the 2003 and the 2007 ODI World Cups.
The 2026 edition of the IPL is set to commence from March 28.
Last year, the Titans finished third in the IPL points table but lost in the Eliminator to Mumbai Indians. They are currently captained by Shubman Gill.
Gujarat Titans, then led by Hardik Pandya, won the IPL title in their debut season in 2022 and were runners-up in 2023.
