Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that the upcoming 2026-27 season could be his final one at the top level of football. The 41-year-old Portuguese legend made the revelation in a recent interview following his wedding to partner Georgina Rodriguez.
Ronaldo, who is chasing the milestone of 1,000 professional career goals, is set to enter the 24th season of his senior career, currently sits on 976 goals.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr and recently represented his country (Portugal) at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," said Ronaldo in an interview with Vogue.
"I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one," he further stated.
"And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I've earned-what we've earned. Because after all it's been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice," he added.
His numbers at Al-Nassr are still very good - last season Ronaldo finished third on the scoring rankings with 28 goals in the Saudi Pro League and 39 goals overall.
His career, which has seen him play for other clubs like Sporting CP in Portugal and Italian giants Juventus is coming to a close.

Over his career, Ronaldo has scored a whopping 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, and 101 for Juventus. He has won five Ballon d'Or awards, five Champions League championships, and the European Championship with Portugal in 2016.
CR7 also leads the list of players with the most international goals, having scored 146 goals in 233 international caps for Portugal.
