(Bloomberg) -- Singapore's Changi Airport resumed operations at Terminal 2 after a fire prevented aircraft from using the facility for about five hours.
The “all clear” sign has been given and the terminal will reopen with some arriving flights, the airport said in a Twitter posting about 11 p.m. local time. Sixty-four arrivals and 61 departures had been delayed at Changi, according to FlightStats.
Flight operations were affected after a fire alarm was activated about 5:40 p.m. because of smoke coming out through the vents, the airport said. All flights from that terminal had been moved to Terminal 3 while the fire was put out.
Changi Airport, with its three terminals, is the main hub for Southeast Asia and is one of the busiest in the world. Singapore handled 58.7 million passengers in 2016, making it one of the top 20 airports in the world by traffic, according to preliminary data released by the Airports Council International.
