Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Group of Seven leaders' summit in Canada later this month, following an invitation from counterpart Mark Carney on Friday.
Modi congratulated Carney on his recent victory in Canada's general election during a phone call.
Canada is hosting the summit from June 15 to 17 that is expected to deliberate on pressing challenges facing the globe including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia.
"Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month," Modi said in a post on X.

The G7 comprises the US, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan. Canada is holding the current presidency of the G7 and is hosting the summit in that capacity.
Ottawa has also invited leaders of Australia, Ukraine, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa.
The India-Canada relations had hit rock bottom following then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations in 2023 of a potential Indian link to the killing of pro-Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
In the last few months, the security officials of India and Canada resumed contacts and both sides were looking at the possibility of appointing new high commissioners. The exit of Trudeau was seen as an opportunity to improve bilateral ties.
After Trudeau's exit, New Delhi said it hoped to rebuild ties with Canada based on 'mutual trust and sensitivity'.
Modi has attended every G7 Summit since 2019 as the West tries to coat India on important global issues.
