Karnataka Public Holidays 2025: Check Full List Of State Holidays

There will be 22 public holidays observed in the state during 2025, including those falling on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Karnataka government released the list of public holidays for the year 2025. According to a circular issued by the Government of Karnataka, there will be 22 public holidays observed in the state during 2025, including those falling on Saturdays and Sundays. 

"Under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Act No.XXVI of l88l) read with Notification No. 20l25l26lPub-1, Dated:15-06.1957 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs the following shall be Public Holidays throughout the State of Karnataka during the year 2025," the Karnataka government said in a circular.

On these public holidays, government offices, educational institutions (including schools and colleges), as well as banks and post offices across Karnataka will remain closed.

There will be five mandatory public holidays in Karnataka in 2025: Republic Day (Jan. 26), May Day (May 1), Independence Day (Aug. 15), Gandhi Jayanti (Oct. 2), and Rajyotsava Day (Nov. 1). Notably, January 26 (Republic Day), March 30 (Ugadi), and July 6 (Muharram) fall on Sundays in 2025, meaning there will be no additional holidays for these occasions.  

Karnataka Holiday Calendar 2025

April and October will have the highest number of public holidays in Karnataka in 2025. In April, there will be four holidays: Mahaveer Jayanti (April 10), Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14), Good Friday (April 18), and Basava Jayanti (April 30).

October will have the highest number of holidays, with five public holidays. These are: Mahanavami, Ayudha Puja, and Vijayadashami (Oct. 1), Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami (Oct. 2), Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti (Oct. 7), Naraka Chaturdashi (Oct. 20), and Balipadyami (Oct. 22).

Apart from the public holidays, there will be 19 restricted holidays that Karnataka government employees will be entitled to in 2025. These include New Year on Jan. 1, Holi on Mar. 13, Buddha Purnima on May 13, and Krishna Janmashtami on Aug. 16, among others.
