Market Recap
India's benchmark indices closed on a strong note on Friday, snapping a four-day losing streak. The recovery was driven by positive global cues after softer than US inflation data, which improved global risk appetite.
The NSE Nifty 50 settled 150.85 points or 0.58% higher at 25,966.40 and the BSE Sensex added 447.55 points or 0.53% to 84,929.36.
For the week, the Nifty fell 0.3%, extending to decline to the third week.
US Market Wrap
Stocks pushed higher toward the end of a hectic trading week as investors navigated the expiry of a record volume of options, a factor that risked fueling sharp market moves. Bitcoin climbed, while bonds came under pressure, Bloomberg reported.
Equities were supported by a rebound in several technology stocks that had recently faced questions over heavy spending on artificial intelligence. The consecutive gains helped the S&P 500 erase its losses for the week. Nvidia led advances among megacap shares, while Oracle jumped around 6.5%.
Asian Market Update
Asian stocks began the week on a firmer note, following Friday’s rally on Wall Street that reinforced optimism for a strong year-end for global markets.
MSCI Inc.’s Asia Pacific equity index climbed 0.5%, led by gains in technology shares. The benchmark had sealed a 1.9% weekly drop on Friday - its first decline in four weeks. US equity futures were also higher in early Asian trading on Monday
Commodity Check
Oil prices edged higher after US President Donald Trump stepped up pressure on Venezuela, with American forces boarding one tanker and chasing another just weeks after seizing a vessel.
Brent crude moved closer to $61 a barrel after posting two straight weekly declines, while West Texas Intermediate traded near $57.
Precious metals also advanced, with silver hitting a fresh record and gold climbing as geopolitical tensions deepened and investors bet on additional Federal Reserve rate cuts next year.
Silver rose as much as 0.6% to $67.5519 an ounce, supported by speculative inflows and persistent supply constraints following a historic short squeeze in October.
