We have updated our India capex pipeline report first published in August 2021. We find that private sector capex announcements over FY21-FY22 (April 2020-February 2022) have crossed FY20 level.
Private sector capex announcements during Apr-20-Feb-22 stood at Rs 12.4 trillion, nearly doubling from Rs 6.6 trillion announced during Apr-20-July-21.
Private sector capex announcements in FY21-22 are up by ~48% from the Rs 8.4 trillion announced in FY20 and marginally above Rs 12.2 trillion announced in FY19.
Private sector capex is concentrated in few sectors with metals in the lead, accounting for 39.6% of project announcements by value, followed by clectronics (12.6%) and IT enabled services/data centers (~8%).
