The Don 3 controversy involving Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar may finally be nearing a resolution. The former is reportedly making serious efforts to resolve his dispute with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's banner, Excel Entertainment.
As reported by the Free Press Journal, Ranveer has agreed to return his signing fee, which is believed to be around Rs 10 crore. In addition, he has reportedly proposed offering a stake in his upcoming project, tentatively titled Pralaay, to the production house. The exact details of this arrangement, including the percentage of the stake, have not been disclosed so far.
How Did The Dispute Begin?
The issue started after Ranveer exited Don 3, a film that was officially announced in August 2023 with him as the new face of the franchise. Following his exit, reports claimed that Excel Entertainment was considering seeking nearly Rs 40 crore as compensation, citing expenses related to pre-production and scheduling disruptions.
It was also suggested that creative differences played a role, with Ranveer reportedly not satisfied with the script and the film's direction. As tensions grew, the Producers Guild of India is said to have stepped in to mediate discussions between both parties.
Casting Uncertainty Continues
These developments come at a time when Ranveer is basking in the success of Dhurandhar 2. With Ranveer no longer attached to the film, speculation about the next actor to play Don quickly gained attention. Hrithik Roshan was among the names linked to the role, but he has dismissed these claims.
Speaking to Variety India, Hrithik clarified, “What started off as just a rumour has now taken a life of its own. I would like to clearly state that I was never approached for Don 3 at any point. I request the media to steer clear of any such unverified reports.”
What Lies Ahead
If the settlement goes through, it could bring closure to the dispute and allow the makers to move ahead with the project.
Farhan Aktar's Projects
Farhan Akhtar is set to make his Hollywood debut as Ravi Shankar in a Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes. As a producer, Boong has earned BAFTA 2026 recognition, Mirzapur: The Movie is in post-production, and he is also working on Jee Le Zaraa, a film with Kiara Advani and Kareena Kapoor, and 120 Bahadur.
