A massive fire broke out on Wednesday morning at a high-rise flat in the Gaur Green Avenue residential society in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, trapping several residents on the upper floors of the 13-storey building.
The incident triggered panic across the complex as thick columns of black smoke billowed into the sky.
PTI video footage from the scene shows the scale of the blaze — dense, dark smoke pouring from the upper levels of the building, visible from considerable distance. Fire tenders have been stationed in the compound as firefighters work to contain the blaze from outside.
Residents gathered in the complex's open areas, as emergency personnel move around the building's base. The smoke is thick enough to be visible from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, drawing onlookers and snarling traffic in the surrounding area.
The cause of the fire and details on casualties remain under investigation.

According to reports, as a precautionary measure, the power supply to the 13-floor complex was cut off following the fire, resulting in the shutdown of the society's elevators. People trapped on the upper floors began screaming and crying out for help.
Gaur Green Avenue is a premium gated residential complex in Indirapuram, under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station, and is one of the prominent housing projects in the Ghaziabad-NCR belt.
