Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha broke his silence on Thursday-hours after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) formally removed him as its deputy leader in the Upper House, fuelling speculation about cracks within the party.

His post on X, his first public response since the removal, was carefully worded and conspicuously absent of any direct acknowledgement of the party's action against him, fuelling further questions about the state of his relationship with the AAP leadership.

The video shared by him on X comprised multiple clips highlighting his interventions on matters of public interest in Parliament — from mobile data expiry policies and quick-commerce gig workers to paternity leave rights and the 'sarpanch pati' phenomenon undermining grassroots democracy — and the impact of global conflicts on Indian markets.

The AAP formally urged the Rajya Sabha secretariat to remove Chadha as the party's deputy leader and also asked that he not be allocated speaking time in the House from the party's quota.

Punjab MP Ashok Mittal, founder of Lovely Professional University, will be the AAP's new deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.

The letter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat and the Chairman's office was sent by AAP's leader in the Rajya Sabha, Sanjay Singh.

In a statement, Mittal described the transition as a normal process within the party, noting that previous deputy leaders had also been replaced in a similar manner.

Chadha, 37, is a member of the party's Political Affairs Committee, its highest decision-making body, and has served as its national treasurer. He entered the Rajya Sabha during his tenure as a Delhi MLA, becoming one of the youngest members of the Upper House. Despite being sidelined from the parliamentary post, his formal membership in the party's top body remains intact for now.

AAP has not officially offered any explanation for the decision beyond describing it as a routine internal reshuffle. Chadha, for his part, has not commented directly on his removal either.
