Prime Minister Modi Commends Army’s Bravery In Surprise Ladakh Visit

Paying tribute to the 20 Army men killed in a violent face off with Chinese troops in east Ladakh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the bravery shown by the soldiers has sent a message about the India's strength.

Addressing Army, Air Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel during his surprise visit to Ladakh, Modi said India's resolve for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' becomes stronger from the army's resolve.

He told the personnel that their will power is as strong and firm as the Himalayas and the whole country is proud of them.

Days after the violent face-off Modi, on Friday, reached Leh with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. Modi reached Leh around 9:30 a.m., sources said.

The prime minister is presently at one of the forward locations in Nimu and is interacting with personnel of the Army, Air Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police, official sources said.

Located at 11,000 feet, Nimu is among the toughest terrains, on the banks of river Indus and surrounded by the Zanskar range.
