A police constable was killed after a drilling machine fell on him at an MMRDA flyover construction site in Mankhurd on Wednesday, NDTV reported. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Chavan, who was attached to the Nehru Nagar police station. He was on his way home when the accident took place.
It is suspected that the crane toppled due to a landslide as the drilling machine was on uneven ground. A case is being registered against the contractor at Mankhurd police station, Mumbai police said. More details are awaited.

Five days ago, a 25-year-old man was killed and 10 others were injured on Friday after several people fell into a pit at an under-construction site in Mumbai's Bhandup (West), officials told news agency PTI.
The incident took place around 11.30 p.m. on Thursday near Metro Mall, close to Janata Market, where a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project is underway.
Officials said the victims had been attending an event at the nearby Matoshri Marriage Hall and accidentally fell into a pit at the SRA construction site in the eastern suburb. Emergency teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, along with police, the 108 ambulance service and ward staff, reached the spot and launched a rescue operation, a civic official said.
