The Indian Army is seeking applications for the SSC NCC Special Entry - 124th Course (October 2026), for unmarried male and female graduates to enlist as Short Service Commission (Non-Tech) officers. Interested candidates can submit their applications online at the official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in, before March 16, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria SSC NCC entry

Applicants must be unmarried male or female graduates holding at least a 'B' Grade in the NCC 'C' Certificate examination. Candidates should fall within the age range of 19 to 25 years as of July 1, 2026.

Regarding nationality, candidates must either be Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal, or individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries with the intent of permanently settling in India, contingent upon eligibility certification by the Government of India where necessary. Gorkha citizens from Nepal are not required to present a certificate of eligibility.

For NCC Men, a total of 70 openings have been announced, with 63 allocated for the General Category and seven set aside for the Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army members. For NCC Women, there are six openings - five for the General Category and one for Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army members.

The Army announces openings separately for each entry and gender depending on operational and administrative needs. The selection process, which includes shortlisting and merit list preparation, is carried out independently for each category.

Physical Standards

Male candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 10 minutes 30 seconds, perform 30 push-ups, complete 40 pull-ups, do six sit-ups, execute two sets of 30 squats, two sets of 10 lunges, and swim 25 meters.

Female candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 13 minutes, perform 15 push-ups, execute 2 pull-ups, do 25 sit-ups, complete two sets of 30 squats, two sets of 10 lunges, and demonstrate basic swimming abilities.

Training and Probation

Candidates who are selected will undergo 49 weeks of pre-commission training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai. Upon commissioning, officers will enter a probationary period of six months.

All successful officer cadets will receive a Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras.

Special Conditions

Candidates are prohibited from marrying while in training. Marriage during the training period will result in discharge and recovery of training expenses. The entire training cost is covered by the government; however, candidates who withdraw for personal reasons will need to reimburse Rs 20,482 per week of training, as applicable in 2026.
