The Indian Army has released the announcement for the Agniveer Recruitment 2026 on its official site, joinindianarmy.nic.in. This announcement reveals that there are more than 25,000 openings available across various categories, including General Duty (GD), Technical, Clerk/Storekeeper Technical, Tradesman, Soldier Pharma, Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, and Women Military Police.
Per the official announcement, online applications commenced on February 13, 2026, and will stay open until April 01, 2026. This recruitment initiative will take place nationwide and is part of the Agnipath scheme, where the chosen candidates are anticipated to serve for four years.
Fees and Eligibility for Agniveer 2026
The processing fee applicable to all categories is Rs. 250, payable exclusively online via the SBI Portal, using net banking, credit card, or debit card. Fees that have been paid are non-refundable.
These openings span from 8th grade to 12th grade and up to graduation, varying by position. Applicants for the Agniveer must be aged between 17.5 years and 21 years. The basic physical standard for candidates includes a minimum height of 170 cm and an unexpanded chest measurement of 77 cm, which must expand by 5 cm during evaluation.
Recruitment process and exam pattern
The selection procedure comprises three phases: the Computerized Evaluation Exam (CEE), the Recruitment Rally, and the Document Validation.
The virtual assessment, known as the CEE, comprises subjects such as Current Affairs, General Science, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Studies, and English Language, tailored to the specific position.
For GD positions, the paper consists of 50 questions worth 100 marks, whereas for technical and Clerk/Storekeeper roles, there are 50 questions valued at 200 marks, with varying subjects. Candidates who pass the CEE proceed to the recruitment rally, which includes a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9 ft ditch, zig-zag balance, a physical test, and a medical evaluation.
Compensation structure under the Agnipath scheme
Individuals selected will receive a monthly remuneration starting at Rs. 30,000 in the initial year, increasing by Rs. 5,000 each subsequent year, reaching Rs. 40,000 by the fourth year. The net salary will fluctuate between Rs. 21,000 in the first year and Rs. 28,000 in the fourth year, following a 30 percent allocation to the Agniveer Corpus Fund. This contribution will be matched equally by the Government of India each year.
