Banks across many states will remain closed for two days due to the extended weekend holiday on account of Eid-ul-Adha 2025 or Bakrid.

As per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) bank holidays calendar, public-sector banks (PSBs) and private lenders will remain shut on Friday (June 6) in Kerala and on Saturday (June 7) in many states on account of Bakrid. The banks will also observe a regular weekend holiday on Sunday, June 8.

Banks will remain closed in cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in Kerala on account of Id-ul-Ad'ha (Bakrid) on June 6.

No Bank Holiday On June 7 In These States

On the first Saturday of June, banks across the country will remain closed on account of Bakrid. However, banks in cities like Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will remain open on June 7.

Since banks remain closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, people in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram will be able to avail banking facilities through their nearest branches.

The central bank announces its yearly holiday calendar well in advance to allow all the banks to make their arrangements accordingly. This also allows customers to plan their banking transactions and visits to the nearest branches. Customers are advised to keep a regular check of the holiday calendar to plan their banking transactions and visits to the nearest branches, as the holidays vary as per regional festivals.

Notably, bank holidays in the country differ from one city to another depending on the national, regional and religious observances. While there are certain national holidays that are observed all around the country, the calendar also mentions state-specific holidays.

On bank holidays, customers can continue to avail online banking services to make financial transactions. Services like UPI transactions, NEFT/RTGS transfers and ATM withdrawals will remain functional on all bank holidays.
