Steel Jobs Sinking Faster Than Output Could Vex Trump Vow: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- Donald Trump's vow to create U.S. jobs will face at least one challenge in the steel industry. Even if his administration can boost domestic steel demand and ensure that unfairly priced imports don't flood in, the incoming president will be faced with an industry where productivity is rising and output is on the decline. The number of American steel workers has fallen at a more rapid pace than raw output because of the rise of more efficient mills, a more adaptable workforce and industrial consolidation, according to Credit Suisse Group AG analyst Curt Woodworth.
