"Interacted with business leaders at Chequers. The signing of the India-UK CETA has opened up new avenues for trade and investment. It marks a pivotal step in strengthening our economic partnership", PM Modi posted on X.

A spokesperson for JLR said: “We welcome this free trade agreement between the UK and India, which over time will deliver reduced tariff access to the Indian car market for JLR's luxury vehicles. India is an important market for our British built products and represents significant future growth opportunities.”

The company added that no decisions have been taken on pricing as of yet.

"The India–UK FTA is a game-changer for the textile and apparel sector. With 99% of textile and apparel tariff lines now duty-free and UK import duties of up to 16% being phased out, Indian exporters are finally on equal footing in one of the world’s most design-driven and sustainability-conscious markets", said Apollo Fashion International Ltd.'s President, Shiraz Askari.

"If the industry responds with agility and intent, a 30–40% surge in exports over the next few years is well within reach", he added.
