Eros International Q1 Jumps 11% To Rs 59 Crore

Eros International Media on Thursday reported 11.20 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 58.87 crore for the first quarter ended June 30.

New Delhi: Eros International Media on Thursday reported 11.20 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 58.87 crore for the first quarter ended June 30. 

The firm had reported a net profit of Rs 52.94 crore in the April-June quarter a year ago, Eros International informed BSE.

However, its consolidated net sales during the quarter under review was down 13.61 per cent to Rs 408.17 crore as against Rs 472.48 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

Commenting on the performance Eros International Executive Vice Chairman & MD Sunil Lulla said: "The quarter was marked by the successful box-office run of our films led by Housefull 3, Ki and Ka, Sardaar Gabbar Singh (Telugu), 24 (Tamil), and Nil Battey Sannata amongst a host of other films."

Its total expenses were down 14.43 per cent to Rs 329.37 crore as against Rs 384.94 crore.

Over the outlook, he said Q2 FY2017 has also begun well with the power packed performance of Dishoom and Happy Bhaag Jayegi and Telugu release Janatha Garage is heading to be the biggest Telugu grosser of this year.

"Our compelling line-up for the remainder of the year features high-potential movies such as Banjo, Baar Baar Dekho, Rock On 2, amongst a host of other Hindi and regional movies. As we look forward," he said.
