Sensex up 53 points in special trade

The BSE benchmark Sensex moved up by 53 points in a special 90-minute trading on Friday on investors purchasing banking and realty stocks.

The 30-share barometer opened marginally higher and hovered in a range of 17,212.36 and 17,125.88, before ending higher by 53.09 points, or  0.31 per cent, at 17,187.34.


The National Stock Exchange's 50-share Nifty index settled higher by 18.40 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 5,209.

Both the NSE and the BSE on Friday conducted a special live trading session in the F&O segment from 11.15 am to 12.45 pm due to upgradation of the system.

All sectoral indices remained in positive zone and gained up to 1.32 per cent.

Major gainers were Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, BHEL, HDFC Bank, HDFC Ltd., ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Sterlite Ind. and NTPC.
