‘Analogue Paneer’ Label Misleads Consumers, Says Former FSSAI Director

As food regulator FSSAI tightens norms on what can be sold as paneer, former FSSAI Director Pradip Chakraborty said products made using non-milk fats should not be marketed as "analogue paneer", arguing that the term can mislead consumers. Speaking to NDTV Profit, Chakraborty said FSSAI's primary role is to protect consumers and ensure transparency in food labelling, adding that only products meeting the prescribed standards should be called paneer and substitutes should be given a distinct name.
