(Bloomberg) -- A three-bottle lot of Romanee-Conti 2012 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti from the grand cru Burgundy vineyard sold for $33,460 at a Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. auction in Chicago this month amid continuing demand for rare wines from the region.
Three bottles of Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux 1985 from Henri Jayer fetched $28,680 while six bottles of Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes 1980 Domaine Ponsot sold for $23,900, according to an e-mailed statement from the auction house. The sale also included a 12-bottle lot of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2000 Bordeaux and the same quantity of Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1999 Georges Roumier, which each sold for $21,510, Hart said.

The three-day auction ended Dec. 17 generated $9.5 million with all lots sold, and prices included a 19.5 percent buyer's premium. The sale came as the broader market for fine wine has rallied in recent months after a 40 percent drop in prices of many top Bordeaux wines since 2011.
“Red and white Burgundy performed particularly well,” Hart said in its statement, while adding that bidding was “strong for mature Bordeaux, especially first growths and top right bank chateaux.” The 784 Bordeaux lots in the sale brought in $2.1 million.
Among top Bordeaux, a 12-bottle lot of Chateau Haut Brion 1989 and another 12-bottle lot of Petrus 1996 each sold for $20,315. The results took Hart's sales total from seven live auctions this year to about $48 million, with all lots sold, it said.
