North Korean Military Acrobat Trainers Exit Uganda, Monitor Says

North Korean Military Acrobat Trainers Exit Uganda, Monitor Says

(Bloomberg) -- Uganda severed military ties with North Korea to comply with an embargo by the United Nations, ending the Asian country's 13 years of support to the East African nation, the Daily Monitor reported, citing the Ugandan military.

Uganda acted in compliance with UN Resolution that imposed sanctions on North Korea, the Kampala-based newspaper cited army spokesman Richard Karemire as saying. The UN Security Council has imposed a series of resolutions since 2006 sanctioning North Korea's nuclear program.

North Korean experts have trained Ugandan army pilots and technicians martial arts and acrobatics since 2004, the paper said. At least 24 trainers were at the Uganda Air Force Academy in the central district of Nakasongola and a “couple of others” were at a military school in Entebbe, near Kampala, it said.
