The brownfield project will more than double Nalco's aluminium output and increase production capacity by 500,000 tons annually. By the end of 2030, the expansion is anticipated to start producing aluminium.

NALCO used a competitive bidding process to choose EGA as its technology supplier.

As part of the deal, EGA will grant NALCO a license to construct reduction cells using DX+ Ultra. Additionally, the company will train NALCO staff to use the technology created in the UAE and offer technical assistance throughout the project.

EGA, notably, is the biggest industrial firm outside of oil and gas sector in the United Arab Emirates and the largest producer of premium aluminium worldwide.

As the only major manufacturer of aluminium in the United Arab Emirates, the company sold 2.84 million tons of cast metal in 2025, making the country the world's fifth-largest producer.
