(Bloomberg) -- Paul McCartney was apparently too busy to testify at a U.S. trial over corruption in international soccer, so pop singer Kevin Jonas made a surprise appearance instead.
Three former South American soccer bosses are on trial in Brooklyn, New York, in what prosecutors say is a bribes-for-media-rights scheme. Earlier, jurors were shown a ledger kept by a sports-marketing firm's finance officer showing illicit gifts, including tickets worth more than $10,000 for a 2010 McCartney show in Buenos Aires.
After defense lawyers questioned whether such a concert ever happened, prosecutors asked the oldest of the Jonas trio to come to court to confirm that there really was a sold-out concert at River Plate Stadium, which he said he attended because the Jonas Boys concert there was days later.
Jonas's turn on the stand lasted less than five minutes.
