The Indian Hotels Company Ltd. said it will open heritage bungalows and guesthouses across the country under the brand name Ama Trails & Stays as part of its strategy to have 100 homestay properties by the end of next financial year.

The owner of Taj brand of hotels said it entered a management contract for nine properties with Tata Coffee.

Indian Hotels is looking to lower its dependence on opening more company-owned properties, Puneet Chhatwal, managing director and chief executive officer of Indian Hotels, told BloombergQuint. “The company expects 20 percent increase in management contract revenue in FY20.”

In the next financial year, Indian Hotels looks to sign and open at least one hotel a month, Chhatwal said, starting with two of its own bungalows in Goa under the brand Ama.
