iGate CEO Ashok Vemuri has quit the US-based company, months after it was acquired by French IT major Capgemini. The $4 billion deal to acquire iGate was announced in April 2015.

"Ashok Vemuri, CEO of iGate, having successfully contributed to the transition process, leaves in a mutual agreement to pursue other interests outside of Capgemini," the French IT major said.

Mr Vemuri, once Infosys' highest-paid Indian executive, had joined iGate as CEO in September 2013. He held 400,000 shares of iGate, when Capgemini announced the acquisition. These shares were valued at over $19 million (about Rs 120 crore) in April.

47-year-old Mr Vemuri was the head of Americas and global head of manufacturing and engineering services at Infosys, when he resigned from the company in August 2013.

Mr. Vemuri had joined Infosys in 1999 and had served in a number of leadership roles across the company. He holds a degree in Physics from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and a degree in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
