Bank Holiday Today: The second phase of polling for the West Bengal legislative assembly is scheduled today, April 29. Typically, a public holiday is declared in regions where voting is being condcuted for people to cast their votes conveniently. 

Here's an update on whether banks will remain on closed in these areas on West Bengal Phase 2 polling day -

Are Banks Open Or Closed In West Bengal Today?

Banks in West Bengal will remain closed on West Bengal, April 29 due to general election to the state assembly, according to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) region-wise holiday calendar for the fiscal year 2026-27. Banks in rest of the country are scheduled to remain open today as per the central bank.


When Are Banks Closed?

RBI usually designates bank holidays in various parts of the country in order to observe national, religious and regional occurrences. In addition to such observances, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, along with Sundays of every month.

When Is The Next Bank Holiday?

Banks will next remain closed in certain parts of the country on Friday, May 1 for observances such as Maharashtra Din, Buddha Pournima, May Day (Labour Day) and Birth Anniversary of Pandit Raghunath Murmu.

Banks typically offer online banking services across the country, even during bank holidays. These services can be used for convenient financial transactions.

April 2, Thursday - Maundy Thursday
April 3, Friday - Good Friday
April 9, Thursday - General Election to Kerala Legislative Assembly 2026
April 13, Monday - Shad Suk Mynsiem
April 14, Tuesday - Ambedkar Jayanti, Bihu, Tamil New Year etc.
April 15, Wednesday - Bengali New Year, Bohag Bihu, Himachal Day
April 16, Thursday - Bohag Bihu
April 20, Monday - Basava Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya
April 21, Tuesday - Garia Puja
April 23, Thursday - General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2026
April 29, Wednesday - General Elections to West Bengal Legislative Assembly 2026
