Apple Posts Record December-Quarter Revenue In India

Apple said services revenue in India reached an all-time high during the December quarter, tracking the growth in its installed base.

Apple Posts Record December-Quarter Revenue In India

Apple Inc. posted its highest-ever December-quarter revenue in India, driven by strong demand from first-time buyers across iPhone, Mac and iPad, company executives said on Thursday. Apple highlighted India as one of its strongest-performing markets during the quarter, alongside China and the United States, as it reported record global revenue for the period.

Chief executive Tim Cook said Apple set quarterly revenue records in India for iPhone, Mac and iPad, alongside an all-time high in services revenue during the period.

“We did set a quarterly revenue record during December,” Cook said, adding that Apple also recorded “quarterly revenue records on iPhone and Mac and iPad, and an all-time revenue record on services” in India.

First-Time Buyers

Cook said growth in India was driven largely by new customers entering Apple's ecosystem for the first time. “The majority of customers that are buying iPhones and Mac and iPad and Watch are all new to that product,” he said.

He described India as a key long-term opportunity, calling it “the second-largest smartphone market in the world” and “the fourth-largest PC market,” while noting that Apple's market share in the country remains modest.

“And so we think there is a huge opportunity for us there,” Cook said.

Installed Base Growth

Apple's finance chief said India also delivered strong growth in its installed base during the quarter, reinforcing the contribution of first-time buyers to revenue growth.

“We are seeing strong double-digit growth in the installed base in India as well, which is really encouraging,” chief financial officer Kevan Parekh said.

Executives said the expanding installed base is supporting growth across both devices and services, with India emerging as one of Apple's fastest-growing user markets.

Retail Expansion

Apple expanded its retail footprint in India during the quarter and plans further additions.

Cook said the company opened its fifth retail store in India during December and intends to add another outlet in Mumbai.

Executives said retail results globally were the company's best on record during the quarter, with India contributing to that performance as demand for Apple products increased.

Services Momentum

Apple said services revenue in India reached an all-time high during the December quarter, tracking the growth in its installed base. The company reported record services revenue globally and said emerging markets, including India, delivered strong growth across service offerings.

Apple does not break out country-level revenue figures, but executives said results in India reflected broad-based strength across hardware and services.
