The 2026 FIFA World Cup provided another growth opportunity for Airbnb during the quarter.

As an official Tournament Supporter, the company hosted millions of guest arrivals during the tournament. The event also brought new accommodation supply to the platform, with more than 150,000 homes across host cities listed on Airbnb for the first time.

Airbnb said it wants to build on this model through partnerships around major global and regional events. Its partners include the International Olympic Committee, Tour de France, Art Basel fairs, Lollapalooza festivals, La Liga in Spain and NASCAR.

The company believes such partnerships can help drive travel demand while expanding its presence in destinations hosting major events.

Airbnb expects the momentum to continue in the current quarter. It has forecast Q3 2026 revenue of $4.69 billion-$4.77 billion, implying year-on-year growth of 15% to 17%.

For India, the sharp increase in first-time customers will be an important part of Airbnb's growth story. The challenge now will be to turn these new users into repeat customers while continuing to expand its host base and accommodation options.
