The US-Iran memorandum of understanding US President Trump says will soon be signed calls for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen immediately without tolls, a diplomat from one of the mediating countries and a US official said as reported by Axios. It also ties Iran's sanctions relief to compliance with the agreement.

The MOU would extend the ceasefire for 60 days, including in Lebanon, while nuclear negotiations take place. It outlines a framework for addressing Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, but any action on Iran's nuclear program would require a second, more detailed accord.

Trump said that a deal to end the war with Iran is nearly complete and is expected to be signed over the weekend in Europe, as he called off military strikes on the gulf nation hours after threatening to take control of its oil industry.

Trump, speaking to reporters at the Oval office on Thursday afternoon, said Vice President J D Vance is expected to attend the signing ceremony which could take place in Europe as soon as this weekend.

The US president said he has spoken to leaders of the Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Pakistan, regarding the latest round of negotiations.

Later, addressing a tele-rally in favour of Georgia Lt Governor Burt Jones, who is running for the post of Governor, Trump declared that the US has ended the war with Iran.

Earlier, at the Oval Office, Trump said that the stock market "likes the deal" and there would be a signing quickly. He said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen once the agreement is finalised. Trump claimed that Iran has committed to permanently abandoning any effort to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Iran War Live Updates: Trump Cites Venezuela As Example

When asked if the Kharg Island operation off the table, US President Donald Trump says, "Now it would be if we signed this agreement, it would be. They weren't so thrilled when they heard that that's what I was put in. I just don't think I like it."

Speaking about Venezuela, he says, "Look at Venezuela, how well that's worked out. We paid for that war many times... millions of barrels of oil from Venezuela going to Houston, and we're working great with the Venezuelan government. Couldn't be better. It's real good relationship... Venezuela has been amazing. This is a larger situation... We go to wars, we end up with just blasting a lot of people and we come home. Nothing happens..."

Iran War Live Updates: Peace Deadline With Iran

When asked about the deadline for peace deal with Iran, US President Donald Trump says, "...The Strait is going to open immediately. This signing, maybe it'll happen on Saturday or Monday... We think it's going to go pretty quickly. I don't want to say a deadline, because if I say a deadline, you'll say, oh, he didn't meet the deadline... it's going to get signed.

And the strait is open. But the strait have been open for a number of months already, and you just didn't know about it... I just announced yesterday that we bought a lot of ships across and millions, hundreds of millions of barrels of oil were brought across..."

Iran War Live Updates: Iran's Leadership Is Gone, Trump Says

When asked what makes him believe that this time Iran wanted to pursue diplomacy, US President Donald Trump says, "The level of enthusiasm beginning at that. we were hitting them very hard for the last three days. We're going to hit them even harder tonight. They knew that. We told them exactly what we were going to do... they had no Navy, no Air Force, no any weapons of detection. They have nothing... we won this war militarily very early on. The only thing we didn't win was the fake news..."

He adds, "They've got a chance to build a country. Their country is largely demolished... Everything is gone. Their leadership is gone many times over. Even many people from this leadership is gone. But we found them to be rational, and they're going to make a deal."

Iran War Live Updates: Strong MoU With Iran

When asked if his peace deal with Iran setting the stage for deeper talks on nuclear, US President Donald Trump says, "It's very strong memorandum of understanding. That is a little conceptual, but it's something that's going to get done. And if it doesn't get done for any reason, which I can't imagine that not happening. They want to sign it as much as I do or more. I would say they want to sign it more, maybe a lot more.

But it's a very detailed memorandum of understanding, also agreed to by many other countries that have great influence over them. everybody wants it done. it's going to get done."

Iran War Live Updates: Iran Got Hit Hard Recently, Trump Says

When asked why he is so sure that the deal will be finalised this time, US President Donald Trump says, says, "...Because They (Iran) have taken a pounding like very few people could take, and they want to make the deal a lot more than I do. we could have done the other way, but it would have taken longer. They got hit very hard recently, as you know. And I don't like to have to do things that way, but I felt it was necessary.

It's a great deal for the US and for the Middle East, and I think ultimately great for Iran because they'll be able to build up their country... I really believe it's a regime change because I find these people to be much more rational than the people that are no longer with us.

We knocked out the first team of leadership, the second team of leadership. This is a different group. This is a different level. I think it's, frankly, a smarter level, and it's a level that has reason...

Everybody's approved the deal. Now we'll get it finished up, and hopefully that'll be done... Iran will in no way, or form have a nuclear weapon or purchase a nuclear weapon."

Most importantly, we have a deal that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, which was the whole purpose of what we had to go through to get this... we have a signing soon, and oh the documents are in pretty final shape... that should be done pretty quickly..."
