(Bloomberg) -- Equities haven't been this volatile since the day Donald Trump was elected President of the U.S.
The CBOE Volatility Index surged as much as 24 percent to 16.66. A close at that level would be the highest since Nov. 8, 2016.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 500 points Friday in the biggest rout since September 2016 as investors grew increasingly concerned that the rout in bonds will force rates higher.
