US President Donald Trump voiced hope about reaching an agreement with Iran that would involve Iran shipping its highly enriched uranium to the United States. The deal could be reached before his upcoming visit to China, planned on May 14-15, Trump indicated, while speaking to PBS.

On being asked where he feel optimistic that the US is closing in on a deal, Trump responded, "Yeah, I think so, but I felt that way before with them, so we'll see what happens, and we'll– I think we'll have a very good chance of making a deal again. If we don't, we'll go back to our old ways."

While commenting about rumours about the transfer of Iran's highly enriched uranium, perhaps, to the United States, as part of the deal, Trump said, "No, not perhaps. It goes to the United States."

Before his travel to China next week, the president stated that a deal to end the war might be reached. On being asked if he is going to take up Chinese indirect involvement in support of Iran, he said, "Well, it is what it is, right? People– We do things, too, against them. So I'll bring it up. But if this ends, there'll not be much to bring up, frankly. I think it's got a very good chance of ending, and if it doesn't end, we have to go back to bombing the hell out of them. Very simple."

While commenting on the price drop in oil prices if the peace deal is reached, Trump said, "Well, we have 1,000 boats that are loaded up with oil that can't, you know, go anywhere. So, when that– It's gonna be a, it's gonna be an oil rush."

Trump said oil prices "may come down quickly, or may not", adding that "nobody really knows". Brent rates are currently hovering around $100 a barrel, which is way lower than the prediction of $300 or $350 that some analysts had shared, he added.
