The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory asking Indian nationals in Iran to remain indoors and avoid movement for the next 48 hours amid escalating tensions in the region.

In a post on X on Tuesday, the Embassy said Indians currently in Iran “must stay where they are for the next 48 hours,” advising them to avoid all electric and military installations as well as the upper floors of multi-storey buildings.

The advisory also urged citizens to remain indoors and coordinate any essential travel, especially on highways, strictly with the Embassy.

The mission further directed those staying in Embassy-arranged accommodation to not step out and to remain in regular contact with on-site Embassy teams. It also asked all Indian nationals to closely monitor official updates and follow instructions issued through verified channels.

Emergency helpline numbers shared by the Embassy remain operational, along with an official email for assistance, as authorities continue to monitor the situation.

The latest advisory comes as tensions in Iran have sharply intensified in recent weeks, prompting repeated warnings from Indian authorities. Earlier advisories had already urged Indian nationals to exercise “utmost caution” and remain indoors as much as possible due to the evolving security situation.

In previous communications, the Embassy had also cautioned Indians against attempting to leave Iran through land borders without prior coordination, warning that such movements could lead to serious logistical and immigration difficulties.

The stepped-up warning reflects growing concern over safety risks in the region, as the conflict environment continues to evolve rapidly. US President Donald Trump once again warned Iran to make a deal on Tuesday, saying a “whole civilization will die tonight” if an agreement is not reached to end the conflict.

Writing on Truth Social, he said, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will."

With communication lines open and emergency support mechanisms in place, the Embassy has reiterated its appeal for calm and vigilance, urging Indian nationals to remain in touch and avoid unnecessary movement until further notice.
