The Iranian state media reported that a fire broke out in the Parand area, near the capital city of Tehran, on Wednesday evening.
The area is close to several military and strategic sites, Reuters has reported.
The development comes amid reports of an “imminent” war between Iran and the United States as tensions flare-up.
The state media has quoted the fire department as saying that the fire was raging in the reeds around the Parand riverbank.
“The black smoke near the city of Parand is the result of this fire,” the fire department has told the state media.

The reason behind the fire is not yet known. Firefighters are on the site, trying to douse the flames.
A Trump advisor has told the Axios News website that the President was “getting fed up” and an operation against Iran can be witnessed soon.
Other officials told Axion that the war would be a joint Israel-US operation and far greater than the 12-day Israel-led bombing in June last year.
