Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States is slated to happen next week, with the run-up to the main event starting two days prior. Trump, a Republican, will return to the White House for the second time after winning the 2024 Presidential race against Democrat Kamala Harris.

Ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration, here is all you need to know about the ceremony.

Donald Trump Inauguration Day: Date And Time

Donald Trump will officially be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20. This day, traditionally known as Inauguration Day, is marked by events filled with pomp and celebration. 

Along with Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance will also be sworn into office. 

Trump is set to take the oath of office, likely administered by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, at 12 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (GMT) or 10:30 p.m. (IST) in front of the U.S. Capitol. Following this, he will deliver his inaugural address.

Donald Trump Inauguration: Line-Up Of Events

Though Inauguration Day is a one-day event, this time pre-celebrations will start on Saturday, Jan. 18. On that day, there will be a reception and fireworks at Trump's Virginia golf club, followed by the Cabinet reception and vice-president’s dinner.

On Sunday, Trump will address a victory rally at the Capitol One Arena in Washington. A wreath-laying ceremony is also scheduled at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

On Monday, Jan. 20, the swearing-in ceremony will be preceded by tea at the White House for the Bidens and Trumps. Following the swearing-in of Trump and Vance, outgoing President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris will get farewells. After this, Trump will attend the signing ceremony at the President’s Room in the Capitol, where he is expected to sign a host of documents.

India's external affairs minister S. Jaishankar, Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni, Argentine President Javier Milei, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya are among those who will attend Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Chinese President Xi Jinping, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban have also received invitations for the event.

Industrialists Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerburg are also expected to attend the ceremony. Former US Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W Bush are likely to be present with their spouses.

Inauguration Day events will be live-streamed on The White House website. Channels like ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, Fox News and PBS will broadcast the events live. The television and YouTube channels of NDTV Profit will also air the ceremonies live.
