Lishalliny Kanaran, the winner of Miss Grand Malaysia 2021, has accused a Malaysian-based Indian priest of molestation. The incident reportedly happened in June at the Mariamman Temple in Sepang, Malaysia. An investigation has been launched into the incident by the Malaysian police.

According to Lishalliny, the accused priest touched Kanaran inappropriately under the guise of giving blessings.

In an Instagram post two days ago, Kanaran shared her ordeal, claiming that the priest poured what he called "holy water from India" before the inappropriate act. She also stated that the misconduct occurred during her visit to the temple.

It was only on July 4, several days after the June 21 incident, that Kanaran confided in her mother about what had happened. The family then filed a police complaint.

The accused priest is said to be absconding and the police have launched a probe to locate him, according to a South China Morning Post report.
