Who Is Arabella Stanton? Meet Hermione Granger In HBO's 'Harry Potter' Series
HBO has chosen Arabella Stanton to play the iconic Hermione Granger alongside Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin and Alastair Stout, who will play the roles of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, respectively.
Out of thousands of child artists who participated in the audition, HBO has finally chosen Arabella Stanton to play the iconic Hermione Granger in its upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Alongside Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin and Alastair Stout will play the pivotal characters of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, respectively.
On Monday, the media giant finally announced the cast for this iconic trio from the popular series. All three young actors have big shoes to fill as they step into the lead roles from the epic series based on author JK Rowling’s popular novel of the same name.
Arabella Stanton will take on the role famously played by Emma Watson in HBO’s Harry Potter TV series. HBO revealed that over 30,000 children auditioned for the roles originally played by Daniel Radcliffe, Watson and Rupert Grint. The series was looking for kids aged 9 to 11 who live in the UK or Ireland.
Who Is Arabella Stanton?
According to Stanton’s Instagram account, she is both an actor and a singer. Represented by Olivia Bell Management, the 10-year-old is a newcomer to the industry. She previously played the role of Matilda Wormwood at the Cambridge Theatre in London for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In a post on Tuesday, she shared: “Today is my last day as a 9-year-old.”
The post read that her Matilda Wormwood performance was also showcased at Buckingham Palace for the BBC 500 Words Final. She has also been a part of the Starlight Express musical, as seen on the Instagram account, managed by her parents.
“We are thrilled to announce that Arabella Stanton will be playing the role of ‘Hermione Granger’ in the upcoming Harry Potter HBO Max series,” Olivia Bell Management also announced in their Instagram post.
Like thousands of other children, Stanton was tasked with two activities during initial screening for the role. All the candidates were asked to film two videos. One of the videos required them to perform a short story or poem. The second one required the candidates to talk about themselves and someone they felt close to.
HBO has promised that the new series will be a “faithful” adaptation of the beloved “Harry Potter” book series. Authored by JK Rowling, the show has come under fire due to Rowling’s political views on gender identity.
However, HBO has assured that she will not be involved in influencing the creative direction of the show. The production for the show will begin this summer at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.
