Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport announced that all flights operating from Terminal 2 will shift to Terminal 1 starting next week on April 15 due to major maintenance and runway upgrade work.

The move, led by Delhi International Airport Ltd. or DIAL, is part of efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve passenger experience. Airlines have begun issuing travel advisories, with passengers advised to check updated schedules as the runway work may lead to delays or rescheduling.

“Effective 15th April 2025 (0001 hrs), all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 will shift to Terminal 1 until further notice. This change is due to planned maintenance work at Terminal 2, which will remain non-operational during this period. Indigo, Air India Issue Statement

Major Indian airline companies, including IndiGo Airlines, Air India and Akasa Air, have announced that all flights previously scheduled from Terminal 2 (T2) will now depart from Terminal 1 (T1), starting April 15, until further notice.

In its advisory, IndiGo has urged passengers to check their terminal and flight status on the official website before heading to the airport, citing possible schedule changes.

“In view of a planned maintenance activity, flights previously scheduled from Delhi Terminal 2 have now been reassigned to Terminal 1 starting April 15, 2025. Rest assured, we are working diligently to ensure a seamless transition and a smooth travel experience for you. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” IndiGo said in a post on X.

Air India has also released a statement highlighting that runway upgradation work at the Delhi airport is expected to continue till July 2025. The airline warned that while efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience, flight schedules may be impacted.

“Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is undergoing an upgrade of runways. This initiative, as per DIAL, is expected to continue till July 2025. While we will make every effort to minimise inconvenience, there could be occasions when your flight schedules get affected," shared Air India.

"Passengers are requested to check their flight status here – http://airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html… before proceeding to the airport,” Air India said in a post on X.

Earlier on April 7, Akasa Air also shared a statement regarding Delhi airport's T2 closure. The airlines will now depart from Terminal 1 (T1), starting April 15, 2025, until further notice.

To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional time to reach the airport well in time for your flight," the airlines shared on its X profile.

"Our check-in counters will close 60 minutes before departure and boarding gates will close 25 mins before departure. To save time, kindly check-in online on http://akasaair.com or our mobile app. We look forward to welcoming you aboard the Akasa experience," it further said.
