A massive storm on Wednesday changed everything for a labourer in Uttar Pradesh. Shocking videos from Bareilly show the man, identified as Nanhe Miyan, being flung into the air along with a tin shed during the massive storm that swept through several parts of the state. The labourer survived the terrifying fall but suffered serious injuries, including fractures in his hands and legs.

The incident took place in Bamiyana village in Bareilly district's Bhamora area, where strong winds and thunderstorms caused widespread destruction. According to Nanhe Miyan, he was working when the storm suddenly became violent. He said the tin structure started lifting due to the force of the wind. It was when he tried to hold it down while others secured it that the wind lifted him.

Speaking to ANI, he said, “I am a labourer... I was working when the storm struck... That's when the structure began to lift into the air. There were four other people with me. I told them, ‘I'll hold this down; you tie it securely.'”

Within seconds, the situation took a drastic turn. “We were holding onto that tin when I was swept away right along with it. My grip slipped, and I lost hold of it. I don't know exactly what happened next, only Allah knows,” he recalled.

Nanhe Miyan said he landed nearly 80 feet away in a maize field filled with water. “I did not think that I would survive,” he added. According to him, a nearby resident rushed out to help. “He pulled me onto his shoulders... Then, he helped me sit on his motorcycle and took me away,” the man continued.

He was later taken for X-rays and shifted to Bareilly for treatment. The labourer said he now requires a metal plate due to one of the fractures and has injuries across his body.

According to PTI, thunderstorms and heavy rain killed at least 89 people across the state, while 53 others were injured. Officials also reported damage to 87 houses and the deaths of 114 livestock.

Heavy destruction was reported from districts including Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Fatehpur and Sonbhadra. Following the devastation, Yogi Adityanath directed district officials to send updates on storm-related damage every three hours and share information about compensation and rescue efforts online.
