In the aftermath of a severe New York blizzard, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra stepped out once conditions improved and marked the moment with a selfie, signalling relief at having weathered the Blizzard of 2026.
Mahindra also took the opportunity to market his favourite Araku coffee.
“Starbucks? Are you kidding? You're asking someone whose obsession is to spread the fame of Araku—an Indian coffee—that's considered one of the best in the world?” he posted.
“And by the way, we'll be opening America's first Araku Café in midtown Manhattan by this summer! You can then count on selfies with an Araku cup in my hand…” Mahindra added.

The original comment read, “Survivor's kit missing one essential item, Anand! Where's the Starbucks cup to add that classic NYC glamour to the selfie?”
Mahindra's original post reflected on how he decided to step outdoors once the blizzard was over, and even shared philosophical musings.
“The blizzard finally called it a day…And I confess, I couldn't resist the temptation of joining the hordes of New Yorkers venturing out to take selfies proving they had survived the ‘Blizzard of 2026'. And on my stroll, I spied this small citizen of the storm.”

According to The New York Times, as the New York City area emerges from a two-day blizzard on Tuesday, daily life is showing signs of recovery, though disruption remains widespread. Restrictions on non-essential driving were eased at noon on Monday, while city data shows snow-clearing operations continuing street by street.
Public transport is slowly resuming after near-total shutdowns, but most services are operating at reduced capacity or facing delays, with some routes still closed. Air travel has also been heavily affected, with more than 1,000 flights cancelled by Monday night, according to FlightAware.
