This week began with a couple of modest smartphone launches in India, such as the Lava Blaze Duo 3 and Oppo A6, and concluded with Motorola unveiling its high-end flagship, the Motorola Signature — positioning it as a competitor to premium devices from OnePlus and Samsung. A mid-week bombshell report suggesting that the OnePlus brand might be “dismantled” spread like wildfire in the tech world, while another claimed Apple is developing a wearable AI pin. In gaming news, Ubisoft announced a major restructuring that includes cancelling six projects, among them Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.

Vivo X200T Launch Date Confirmed

Vivo has officially scheduled the X200T launch in India for Jan. 27. The device will include a 50MP Zeiss super telephoto lens supporting 3x to 10x zoom, paired with a 50MP Zeiss primary camera and a 50MP Zeiss ultrawide.

Lava Blaze Duo 3 Launched

Lava introduced the Blaze Duo 3 in India as a mid-range 5G phone distinguished by its dual Amoled displays — one on the front and a secondary one on the rear. The back screen handles notifications, music controls, and serves as a selfie viewfinder. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor and features a 5,000mAh battery.

OnePlus India CEO Debunks ‘Dismantled' Rumours 

Following a report from Android Headlines suggesting OnePlus might be shutting down or being dismantled, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu dismissed the claims as “misinformation.” In a post on X, he stated that such unverified reports are false and confirmed that OnePlus India's operations are continuing normally.

Oppo A6 Released

Oppo launched the A6 in India as an affordable mid-range 5G smartphone. It includes a 6.75-inch HD+ display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a 50MP main camera, a large 7,000mAh battery, and robust IP66 + IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance.

Ubisoft Cancels Prince of Persia Remake, Other Titles

Ubisoft confirmed a significant organisational restructuring, leading to the cancellation of six upcoming titles. This includes the long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Additionally, seven other projects are facing delays, with speculation that one might be a remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Oppo A6 Released

Oppo has introduced the Oppo A6 in India as a new lower mid-range 5G smartphone. It features a 6.75-inch HD+ display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a 50MP primary camera, massive 7,000mAh battery, and IP66 + IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.

Apple Developing Wearable AI Pin

According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a compact, AI-enabled wearable device in the form of a pin. Roughly the size of an AirTag, it features a thin, flat, circular design with an aluminium-and-glass build, multiple cameras, microphones, a speaker, a physical button, and wireless charging support.

Google Expands Personal Intelligence 

Google is introducing Personal Intelligence in its AI Mode for Search, designed to deliver more tailored results. The feature can recommend products based on recent purchases or assist with trip planning using bookings, photos, and other user data.

Motorola Signature Introduced In India 

Motorola released its premium flagship, the Motorola Signature, in India. It comes equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, a 50MP quad-camera setup, and a 6.8-inch LTPO Amoled display with high peak brightness. Available in two premium finishes, the Motorola Signature offers seven years of major OS updates and seven years of security patches.
