Google’s Pixel 9 phones have remained a favourite among Android users for their performance and design. But if you are considering buying one, it might be best to put it on hold for some time.

According to a recent report by Android Authority, it would be wise to wait for a few weeks, as the Google Pixel 10 series promises major improvements.

Google’s “Made by Google” event is set for Aug. 20. According to Android Authority, Google is expected to launch the Pixel 10 lineup at the event. This would include the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and even a foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These devices are expected to replace the current Pixel 9 series.

Performance Leap Expected

One of the most significant features of the Pixel 10 lineup is said to be the Tensor G5 chip, Google's first 3nm processor manufactured by TSMC. If true, this may see significant improvements in processing speed, battery life and thermal efficiency.

Magnetic Charging

Another expected feature is Qi2 magnetic charging compatibility, expected across all the Pixel 10 series. This technology, similar to Apple's MagSafe, would enable users to magnetically charge, mount, and even use wallets on the phone without a dedicated case.

Other Upgrades

Besides the improved chipset and charging capabilities, the Pixel 10 lineup is also anticipated to bring a 5x telephoto lens on the standard model, enhanced battery capacity, quicker charging, and IP68 water resistance on the foldable model. Google's AI-based features, such as a new "Magic Cue" feature, are also anticipated to arrive with the lineup.

Why You Should Wait

Android Authority says waiting it out might give consumers access to significantly better hardware at the same price or, at worst, deep discounts on the Pixel 9 series. Past trends suggest Pixel 9 series models may see a price dip after the launch of the Pixel 10 lineup. With unveiling of the next‑gen Pixel just days away, buying now could mean missing out on the latest features and technology upgrades.
