OpenAI is set to launch its latest cybersecurity AI product offering named Daybreak, according to the company's blog post on Tuesday. The software detects vulnerabilities in digital security networks and resolves them before attackers can identify them for exploitation.
The AI giant's latest offering is notably similar to Anthropic's Claude Mythos Preview cybersecurity AI model, which undertakes similar functions and caused major buzz among governments and digital security experts with its advanced vulnerability detection capabilities, with concerns rising over its potential misuse.
Anthropic had also deemed the AI model too dangerous for public access. The model was initially available in preview access mode to select software companies such as AWS, Apple, Google, Nvidia and more. It was also accessed by an unauthorised third party, who have reportedly not used it for cyber attacks as of yet.

Open AI's Daybreak is powered by its Codex Security AI Agent unveiled in March. It develops a threat model derived from the code of the organisation in focus and screens it for likely attack routes and patches possible vulnerabilities, the AI model then automates a scan to identify higher-risk weaknesses.
"Daybreak combines the intelligence of OpenAI models, the extensibility of Codex as an agentic harness, and our partners across the security flywheel to help make the world safer for everyone," the blog post said.
The cybersecurity model also uses variants of the company's GPT-5.5 model, which includes the base model, GPT-5.5 With Trusted Access For Cyber and GPT-5.5-Cyber for various aspects of digital security.
The firm said that it is working with its "industry and government partners" to launch more efficient models.
"In the coming weeks, we're working with our industry and government partners as we prepare to deploy increasingly more cyber-capable models as part of our approach to iterative deployment," the blog post said.
