US tech giant Google is rolling out a new feature called Personal Intelligence in AI Mode for Search. This new feature is aimed at making searches feel more personal and useful for the users, enhancing the overall AI search experience.
“Accessing the world's information is the foundation, but the most helpful search experience brings together that global knowledge with insights that are uniquely relevant to you. To make this vision possible, today we're expanding Personal Intelligence to AI Mode in Google Search,” the company announced in a blogpost on Thursday.
This new tool will link a user's Gmail and Google Photos to Search. The goal is to allow the AI assistant to “connect the dots across a user's Google apps.” The feature is available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers at the moment. Users will need to opt in to connect Gmail and Photos, according to Google. The company has assured the users that their data will remain secure and private.
“With this new experience, you can tap into your own personal context and insights to unlock even more helpful Search responses that are tailored to you,” it said.
What To Expect From New Feature
Explaining the broader goal of personal intelligence, Google explained: “You don't have to constantly explain your preferences or existing plans, it selects recommendations just for you, right from the start.”
It said that Personal Intelligence in Search will help users experience relevant ideas and suggestions. It can suggest products based on recent purchases or plan trips using bookings and photos. According to Google, this feature will make search results feel practical and tailored.
“Personal Intelligence could change how we search. Instead of generic results, it offers suggestions that fit your life. From travel tips to shopping ideas, the tool aims to save time and make Search more relevant,” it said.
By linking Gmail and apps like Google Photos, Personal Intelligence will make AI search mode more tailored. For instance, Personal Intelligence will link a user's shopping habits with travel details from Gmail. AI Mode will read the user's destination and dates, check the brands that they usually buy and match them with local weather. It will then suggest suitable items that fit both the conditions and the user's personal style, making the search more tailored.
Google has also assured that the feature is built with privacy in mind. AI Mode runs on Gemini 3 and does not train directly on a user's Gmail or Google Photos. Additionally, users will stay in control and can choose to turn data connections on or off at any time, Google explained.
