US space agency NASA astronaut, the Indian-origin Sunita Williams was greeted by an 'alien' on the International Space Station (ISS)! Bizarre as that may sound, it actually happened. Well, Sunita has been stuck on the ISS now for nine months and during that time, she has faced many hazards including deadly bacteria and the prospect of returning to Earth on a faulty Boeing spacecraft. As it turns out, this was not a deadly variant of anything.

In fact, it was a human who thought it worthwhile to pack an alien mask and cart it all the way to the ISS from Earth in order to play a prank on the astronauts stuck in space. Well, he did! And the proof is very much there as a NASA TV video has been shared of the 'alien' entering the space station. The same was shared in a post on X by Justin Sluss, @justinsluss, with the caption, "Well, an alien just boarded the I.S.S. (International Space Station). Nothing to see here. And, yes, this is real. It just aired on @NASA TV."

Sunita Williams was looking at it, but more than scared she was actually smiling - perhaps at the idea of someone actually bringing a scary mask to the space station.

Attempts at humor apart, Sunita Williams has received some good news. Her ordeal on the space station is set to end in days. In fact, she will return to Earth on Tuesday, March 18, which is tomorrow.

Sunita was stranded on the ISS since June as the Boeing Starliner spacecraft on which she flew to the space station, suffered a huge number of glitches and it was ultinmately decided by NASA that she would not return on it. The Boeing spacecraft was branded as being unfit to fly because of the horrendous nature of those glitches.

However, ultimately, the Boeing Starliner returned safely to Earth, but without any astronomer on it. It flew back empty.
